5/15/2018 0 Comments May 2018Field Trip to Maine Maritime Academy - On April 11, a group of 18 students, six parents and two staff had an amazing experience at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine. Students practiced piloting a tugboat and a Coast Guard cruiser in the state-of-the-art bridge simulation rooms. We dined in the "mess deck", and then toured the Training Ship State of Maine (TSSOM). Students learned about the ship's history, and the daily routine aboard the training vessel. TSSOM left Castine on May 11, 2018 for her spring training cruise to Europe and the Mediterranean Sea. Students had an on-board experience on the research vessel, Susan J Clark, and had the opportunity to pilot this vessel, under the captain's supervision. This field trip was a great opportunity for students to get hands-on experience in science, technology, math, and engineering.
