Gifted-Talented Services at Center Drive School
Center Drive School's Gifted & Talented program is based on a consultation model. Students in the program will have individual educational plans; their services can include differentiated instruction within the classroom, acceleration, accelerated groupings in subject-areas, enrichment, and individual project-based learning.
Differentiation
Differentiation in instruction is provided to identified students in the student's regular classroom. The CDS Gifted & Talented Coordinator can provide consultation and resources for classroom teachers to meet student needs.
Acceleration
Students who are identified as academically gifted may be accelerated in grade-level groupings, classroom groupings and subject-area groupings.
Enrichment
Gifted & talented tudents may receive enrichment in academic areas, art and music. They may choose to participate in National History Day, Science Olympiad, Invention Convention or creative writing. Students are encouraged to participate in Center Drive School's Math Team, Chess Team, Art Club, Jazz Band and the school's performing arts and drama program.
Individual projects and RTI enrichment opportunities
Gifted-talented students can work on individual learning projects during grade-level enrichment time with the program coordinator. Middle school students can choose learning projects, depending on their interests; and work on individual learning goals during middle school RTI (Response to Intervention) time.
