Identification Pool
Students enter the G-T identification pool by the following ways:
- Nomination by parent
- Nomination by teacher or staff member
- NWEA score in reading or math in the 95th percentile or above for grade level
- Statewide achievement testing - score in 95th percentile or above for grade level
Identification & Notification
Students who are in the G-T Identification Pool may, with parent/guardian permission, take the Otis-Lennon Scholastic Ability Test (OLSAT), which is administered and scored on-site.
The school's G-T Identification Team meets to identify gifted & talented students who meet criteria established in the CDS G-T Plan. Eligibility requires two objective criteria and one subjective criterion; or three objective criteria.
Parents will be notified of their child's status (eligible or ineligible for G-T services) within 60 days of receipt of their nomination form; or within 60 days of the Identification Team's meeting.

- Subjective criteria: Parent or teacher/staff nomination
- Objective criteria: NWEA score in 95th percentile or above; NECAP score 4; OLSAT score 95th percentile or above; cognitive testing in superior range (examples include Woodcock-Johnson, Stanford-Binet, Wechsler)
Parents will be notified of their child's status (eligible or ineligible for G-T services) within 60 days of receipt of their nomination form; or within 60 days of the Identification Team's meeting.
